The
Project
"Chris
Crockett is laying his life online"
was the opening statement for this page on January 1, 2001 when
Chris began presenting one ORIGINAL song on his website EVERY DAY for AN ENTIRE
YEAR! 365 days, 365 songs.
Chris' music covers a variety of styles,
including Folk, Folk Rock, Rock, Good Time, Light Jazz and Pop (even Surf!), but
Chris mostly calls himself a County Singer/Songwriter. He wrote his first song
when he was 13 years old, and has dedicated all of his extra time to writing songs
ever since (it's in his genes, see more about Chris' family here: "Crockett
Family".)
In creating this project, Chris put together
a list of 365 of his compositions, all written or co-written by him and presented
via MP3, one song a day for the entire 2001 year. Each song was different, and
was available for review or down load in it's entirety for one day only. Chris'
site features a rotation of 15 to 20 songs at all times.
Every two weeks,
Chris released a CD of the prior 14 day's songs, and cut a total of 26 CDs, in
late 2001. In Late February 2001 a camera crew from Sacramento, California (NBC
affiliate KCRA), drove to Chris' snow covered cabin resulting in a 2 minute television
segment during the evening news that attracted local and national attention to
his project.
Chris has been performing in Nevada County, California for
25 years and is held in high esteem as a talented and prolific writer in the community.
Chris and his wife Connie, have a business in Nevada City, a foothill town in
Northern California. Connie assisted in the project with vocals and background
vocals, created the covers for each CD and co-wrote some of the tunes.
